How does Otinova® work?

Otinova® relieves itching and has a drying (astringent) effect. Otinova® is sprayed directly into the ear canal and is scientifically proven to have an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal effect.  (ref. 1-5).

Otinova® Ear Spray is an approved medical device used to treat ear canal inflammation. It is simple to use and easy to carry with you and offers quick relief.

What does Otinova® contain?

Otinova® contains aluminium acetate, aluminium acetotartrate, acetic acid and water. It has pH 3-4 (Burow’s solution).

Volume 15 ml = 150 doses of spray.

Shelf-life: Otinova® can be used for 6 months after opening the bottle. Expiry date shown on bottle. Store at room temperature.

Otinova® Ear Spray is an over-the-counter medical device product that is approved for the treatment of otitis externa /ear canal inflammation.

How to use Otinova®

When using for the first time, pump the spray until a fine mist comes out. Place the tip of the nozzle into your ear canal and spray 1 or 2 times, morning and evening. After spraying, tilt the head for a minute or two so that the fluid flows down into the ear canal. Wipe away any excess fluid. Most people feel relief after just a few days.

Do not use Otinova® for more than 7 days continuously. Children under 5 years of age should not use Otinova® without a doctor’s supervision. If you do not see an improvement of symptoms after 7 days, consult with your doctor. The product should not be used if the eardrum is perforated or if it has been fitted with a drainage tube or ‘grommet’.

Possible side effects

  • A temporary stinging sensation and/or local irritation has been reported with the use of Otinova®.
  • Long-term use or overdosing may result in salt precipitations in the ear canal and dehydration of the localised area.

Safety Information

  • Do not use Otinova® for a continuous period of more than 7 days.
  • Do not use with a perforated ear drum or after insertion of tubes or ‘grommets’.
  • Do not use it if you are allergic to Aluminium Acetate.
