Burow’s solution
Burow’s solution has a long and well-evidenced history as a highly effective treatment for external otitis, commonly known as swimmer’s ear. Developed in the 19th century, it works by producing a solution of aluminium acetate with proven antimicrobial properties against a broad range of bacterial and fungal strains, including antibiotic-resistant bacteria such as MRSA.
In clinical studies, patients treated with Burow’s solution achieved complete symptom relief in an average of 9.36 days, compared to 11.06 days for those using conventional antibiotic and steroid ear drops. The only side effects reported in human studies were an occasional mild stinging sensation. Otinova delivers this trusted, tried-and-tested formulation as a convenient over-the-counter ear spray.
